DAM Good Vegan, Danni McGhee, in collaboration with the Collective Health Initiative (CHI) prepared a summer feast of veganized cookout classics at the first annual Vegan Cookout on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at River Terrace Park located in Southeast, Washington, DC. Roughly 200 people ate hearty plates of black bean burgers, carrot dogs, BBQ jackfruit sliders, baked beans, smack and cheese, mean greens, pasta salad, and potato salad.
Besides the catered affair, members of CHI (The Collective Health Initiative) also provided interactive workshops featuring physical activity and fun with Khetnu Nefer of A Soulful Touch Wellness, LLC featuring hula hoop for beginners. Docta Yew led an herbal walk to find herbs alongside the Anacostia River that you can actually take back to your kitchen. Master Ashep of SOL Healing was available for healing services like Chakra Balancing and Aura Clearing and Oracle Readings.
